Mint spirulina ice cream
PORTIONS: 1
This one of my favorite healthier alternative desserts, which was created by an accident. I didn’t expect that it would turn out so similar to classic mint chocolate chip ice cream with only healthy ingredients.
Why is this a healthier version of ice cream? There are no dairy products, refined sugar, or gluten in this recipe. It contains only fruits, good fats, and, of course, spirulina, which provides the ice cream with that rich green color.
Spirulina promotes good bacterial growth in our gut and has anti-inflammatory properties, which is useful when our body fights with oxidative stress. So, let’s start.
A splash of | plant-based milk (I used almond milk) |
A handful of | spinach |
Full teaspoon of | spirulina |
1 | frozen banana |
A half of | frozen avocado |
4-5 | fresh mint leaves |
2 teaspoons | maple syrup or another sweetener |
A piece of | dark chocolate |

Put all the ingredients into a blender and blend everything with several breaks until solid mass. It should take a few minutes. Do not overblend to prevent ice cream from melting. Then put your prepared ice cream into a bowl and put some chopped chocolate pieces on the top. Enjoy 🙂
