Superfoods for Strong Hair

Talking with our clients, I’ve noticed that hair thinning and hair loss are increasingly common issues. It’s probably no surprise that I recommend starting with nutrition, since hair supplements are often expensive, while vitamins and minerals from food can be just as effective, if not more so. Here are my top 5 superfoods known to nourish and support healthy hair.

Avocados

Avocados are an excellent source of healthy fats and vitamins D, C, B6, and E. Vitamin E is an antioxidant that helps reduce oxidative stress in the body. Several studies have found that this vitamin promotes hair growth. Additionally, the fatty acids in avocados provide essential building blocks for cells important for hair growth.

Berries

Berries are rich in antioxidants such as vitamin C, which supports collagen production—essential for maintaining strong hair. Antioxidants also protect hair from damage caused by free radicals. During colder seasons, the For Skin Glow blend can be helpful, as it contains freeze-dried blueberries, cranberries, and flaxseeds, all rich in omega-3 fatty acids important for hair health.

Spinach

Spinach is one of the most nutritious leafy greens, packed with iron, vitamins C and A, all vital for healthy hair. Iron supports metabolism and cell renewal, and studies have shown that hair loss often correlates with iron deficiency.

Eggs

Eggs are a great source of protein and biotin, which promote hair growth. Protein is essential because hair follicles are made of protein. Eggs also contain zinc, selenium, and other nutrients, including biotin, which supports the production of keratin, the key protein in hair.

Nuts and Seeds

Almonds and seeds are rich in healthy fats and often contain nutrients important for hair health. For example, almonds provide vitamin E, B vitamins, and zinc. Flaxseeds and chia seeds are high in omega-3 fatty acids, and some studies have shown they may help reduce hair loss.
